Whether it’s your anniversary, your partner’s birthday, or just an average weekday, these gift ideas will make your boyfriend feel loved and lucky to have such an amazing girlfriend in his life.
- Gratitude Box
Write down the things you love about your partner on small cardboard cards and place them in a little box. They can be related to his physical appearance, character strengths, or the little things your partner does for you (and that you sometimes take for granted). You can write as many cards as you want, 20, 30 or even 50!
When you focus on the positive aspects of your partner, you are actively practicing gratitude. Being more grateful for your partner and focusing on his strengths, rather than his weaknesses, will make you feel happier about your relationship.
If you are into drawing or coloring, you can draw something awesome for your partner. Just the act of creating something personal with your own two hands makes it even more special than the typical store-bought gift. I made this drawing for my boyfriend last year, just as an expression of love and support. He was in the transition of moving to a new place and quitting his sucky job. He wanted to do new things and travel more, so I thought this drawing and quote would empower him.
“Then something woke up inside him, and he wished to go and see the great mountains, and hear the pine-trees and waterfalls, and explore the caves, and wear a sword instead of a walking stick.”
This is a passage from his favorite book, The Hobbit. He loved the drawing so much that he bought a frame for it and now keeps it on his work desk.
Tip: If you are not good at drawing, you can ask a local painter from your city to make a special drawing for you. What is it that your partner loves? How could you depict this in a drawing?
- Travel tickets
This is perhaps our favorite. Because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love to travel? Last spring, my boyfriend bought us flight tickets to Mexico! It was our first overseas trip and our longest too. This trip brought us closer, and he got to know my friends and family in Mexico. This was an experience that we will remember forever.
However, you don’t have to break the bank to buy your partner a nice holiday. Even just a weekend trip to a nearby city will make him very happy. Check out other transportation options like trains, rental cars or the bus. Flixbus is a great option if you’re traveling on a budget. You can often travel in Europe from one country to another for just 10 euro!
- Photo frame
You don’t need to buy expensive gifts in order to make your boyfriend feel loved or special. Sometimes, it’s the small things that count. Last year Marten and I celebrated our first Valentine’s Day together, and he gave me this photo frame of the two of us. I loved it so much and it made me really happy.
So go and choose a picture you love, print it, frame it, and wrap it up!
- His favorite book
Before buying your boyfriend your favorite book, do your research. What you might consider being a five-star book might be a two-star book for him. What does he like? Is it fiction, non-fiction, horror, or personal development? Has he maybe already read this book?
Life is too short to read crappy books, so give your partner a good one!
Finally, it’s important to remember that you don’t need to wait for a special occasion to treat your partner with gifts. Anytime is a good time to show your partner how much you care for him.
