A few days ago, I had a weird dream. I was sitting at my desk and felt the urge to get a cup of coffee. So I headed to the kitchen and turned on the coffee machine. While I was waiting for my coffee to brew, I opened the kitchen cupboard and took a handful of chocolate eggs. As I was unwrapping one of the eggs, white dust came out of it and spread through the air. Well the surprise of it made me drop the rest of the eggs I was holding in my hand, causing them to break and form a white layer on the floor. Then, an army of flies invaded the kitchen. My first reaction was to kill them all. So that’s what I did.
Just when I thought I had gotten rid of the problem, I saw a small lizard entering the living room through a hole in the roof. Another lizard followed, and then another one. I spent a moment trying to figure out where the hole came from and proceeded to scare them away. Luckily, all of the critters went back to where they came from. Phew! I felt such relief. But in the blink of an eye, a HUGE lizard turned up and glared menacingly at me. This time I knew it wasn’t going to be easy to scare the thing away, so I called my boyfriend and screamed, “YOU HAVE TO COME RIGHT NOW, LIZARDS ARE INVADING OUR HOUSE!” In that moment, I opened my eyes and jumped out of bed. What a dream! It took me some time to get back to breathing normally.
The reason why I’m telling you about my creepy dream is that I believe there’s a meaning behind it. If you’re like me, you probably like to Google the meaning of certain dreams. I found out that dreaming about flies represents a minor problem or obstacle that needs to be faced. Or, it can be that we’re feeling annoyed by something or someone (which makes sense since flies are the most annoying thing on earth). This dream caused me to reflect on the areas of my life, and I realized that in fact I had been really annoyed with my financial situation for the last couple of weeks. But the good news is that when you dream about killing the flies, it means you’ll be victorious and you’ll overcome adversities. As for the lizard, it represents our fears. So my dream might just be a sign that I need to face them.
Problems and fears will always be part of the ups and downs of life. And just like flies, they’ll show up from time to time. No matter how much we strive for balance or perfection, a tire will get flat, a customer won’t pay, or a plan will break down. But the important thing is to face those challenging situations without coming from a place of resistance. Because in my experience, whatever you resist persists. It’s better to take some sort of radical action that will help you solve the problem.
Ask yourself what you could do to make your situation better. Perhaps you need to look for a temporary job that will help pay the bills. Or maybe you should stop doing things that trigger anxiety, like spending too much time on social media, gossiping, or eating processed food. The answer might be as simple as calling a friend or partner to help you figure things out.
It takes courage to admit that things aren’t working … especially when they’re crumbling or falling apart. But we were given this life because we are strong enough to confront pain or danger despite the unavoidable presence of fear. Bravery is an inherent strength of every human being. And this is simply a reminder that you got this, regardless of the lizards in your life.
Look at it this way – a problem is just an invitation to pay attention to a certain part of your life, and to change it for the better so that you can live a happier one. I guarantee that if you focus on the solutions, you will attract solutions. Or as Steve de Shazer puts it, “Problem talk creates problems, solution talk creates solutions.”
Is there something that doesn’t let you sleep at night? What’s causing you fear, anxiety, or worry? How can you take action? Feel free to share in the comments!
P.S. In my next post I’ll share my story of how I manifested magic money and went from feeling broke to abundant. Stay tuned!
Until next time,
