Custom Portraits Frequently Asked Questions

How long will a custom portrait take?
Custom portraits usually take 1-2 weeks to be completed, depending on the workload I have at that moment. You should then add shipping times on top of that. If you need it sooner, please contact me before placing your order, so I can confirm with you whether that is possible.

What kind of reference photos are required?
To create your custom portrait, I’ll need some high-resolution photos as reference. They need to be sharp and clearly show the face of the subjects, so I’m able to achieve an accurate likeness. I’m afraid I can’t work with blurry photos, since I need to be able to zoom in on the image and see details.

Keep in mind that the better the photo, the better your painting will be. If you are unsure which photo will work best, feel free to send over multiple photos and I will help you pick one. The more photos the better!

Do people/pets need to be in the same photo?
No, they don’t need to be in the same photo. A combination of people/pets from two different photos is possible, as long as the subjects are in similar composition (the photo was taken from the same level).

Will I get a digital or original artwork?
You will receive an original painting in your chosen size. If you need the digital file, you can request it via message, but this will result in an additional cost.

What kind of materials do you use?
I mainly use Fabriano watercolor paper 300 g/140 lbs hot pressed, which is acid-free and prevents the painting from yellowing over time. As for paint, I use a variety of high-quality mediums, such as Prismacolor Premier and Faber-Castell colored pencils, and Winsor & Newton watercolor and gouache.

What if I’m not satisfied with my portrait?
I don’t normally accept returns or offer refunds because I work closely with my clients to make sure they’re happy with their orders. However, if for any reason you aren’t satisfied with the finished piece (e.g., it looked different than in photos, the quality isn’t to your standard, etc), please contact me and I will refund 25% of the portrait’s total cost.

Will my portrait be shared on social media?
Yes.  I post portrait progress throughout different stages on both my Facebook and Instagram pages. This helps me promote my art and attract potential customers. Unless the portrait is a gift, I will post after the recipient has received it. If you do not wish your commissioned portrait to be shown online, you must notify me before I start working. Please read my terms and conditions for more information.

Do you offer gift wrapping?
Absolutely! You can specify the order is a gift in the notes section at the checkout page.
