Unleash Your Creativity
If you read my previous post on the root chakra you probably learned that balancing the chakras can help us live a healthier and happier lifestyle. The chakras in our body are nothing but energy points that vibrate with our emotions, and these emotions are the results of our actions and our thoughts.
While the root chakra focuses on survival, the sacral chakra focuses on sensuality and creativity. It is also associated with our sexuality, passion, and pleasure.
The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Svadhishthana and it is represented by a six-petal lotus flower. It is located below the navel, its color is orange, and its element is water.
We block this chakra when we don’t feel comfortable in our bodies. If you look in the mirror and you don’t accept or like what you see, you might be experiencing an imbalance. This could include feelings of low self-esteem, or less interest in your sexuality.
In relation to your career, you might have ideas you would like to bring to life, but you don’t know how to execute them. Or maybe you feel stuck in a job that doesn’t excite you anymore.
Some physical signs that this chakra is not balanced are heavy menstrual cramps, bladder issues, and pain in your lower back.
How can we open the sacral chakra?
Meditate on the organs and parts of your body associated with this chakra, like your sex organs, bladder, or belly button. If you are trying to conceive, imagine that your womb is growing a human being. Put your hand on your belly and think thoughts of love. If you’d like to heal a certain pain in your body, imagine that part of the body being healed. If you want to be more passionate, meditate on the act of being passionate.

Get close to water
The element of this chakra is water. Therefore, taking long showers or baths can help you open this chakra. You can also do this with your partner to experience a deeper connection. Hold your partner, submerge in the water, and feel the calmness of it. Water has been known to have healing powers, that is why we feel so good after a long shower.
It is also beneficial to swim in the ocean. Or if the ocean isn’t near you, meditating next to a lake or river also works. Water simply changes our energy. The more contact you have with water, the easier it will be to open this chakra.
Be open to intimacy
Develop a healthy attitude towards sexuality by communicating openly about it. Express your feelings and desires to your partner and be open to trying new things when it comes to your sexuality.
Eat plenty of orange goodies
Eat foods that are orange in color like apricots, carrots, oranges, orange bell peppers, melons, pumpkins, etc. Eating natural food fuels our body with good energy, and this applies for all of the chakras.
Wear orange clothes
The more you see and visualize this color, the easier it will be to align the energy of it. Besides wearing orange clothing, I also like having orange flowers in my house. I feel more creative and productive when I surround myself with this color.
When you exercise, you are taking care of your body. Any kind of exercise will help you feel more confident, and being more confident leads to loving your body. If you struggle in getting your workout routine done, take baby steps. Start by exercising for 15 minutes, and then do 25 minutes the next day. Increase the time of your exercise routine little by little.

Listen to your creativity
Listen to that voice that is telling you to start that project you’ve been wanting to start for years. Perhaps it is writing your own novel, a fashion business or selling your art. Whatever it is that your creative side is craving, give yourself permission to do it! Many people discover their new passion in the process of working on new projects.
I believe happiness is the result of loving our lifestyle. And in order to live a lifestyle we are happy with, we must focus our energy on doing more of the things we love and that bring us inner peace. That is why is very important to balance the energy of the chakras.
And even if you do not believe in the chakra concept, any one of the simple practices mentioned above would be a great start for taking control of your happiness, health, and overall wellness.
